History of the Book: Introduction to Scientology Ethics was first published at Saint Hill, East Grinstead, Sussex, England, in July 1968 and introduced the principles, formulas and application of Scientology ethics technology. In the years following the book’s first publication, Mr. Hubbard made numerous new discoveries in the field of ethics technology.

In 1989, a new edition of Introduction to Scientology Ethics was released, updated with these breakthroughs and enhanced with graphs, charts, a copy of Mr. Hubbard’s renowned Organizing Board and a comprehensive glossary.

Subjects Covered: Introduction to Scientology Ethics contains the fundamentals of Scientology ethics and justice systems, with chapters devoted to the basics of ethics, the nature of man and the importance of applying the principles of ethics 100% standardly. In modern society, man has confusions between ethics, justice and morals. As these confusions inhibit a person’s ability to standardly apply ethics technology, the differences between these are fully defined in the second chapter of the book. The book also covers how to read statistics so a person can measure his production and apply the correct set of steps to increase his productivity. It lays out exact steps so a person can improve his/her condition, no matter where he began, and arrive in a condition of Power.

A chapter is devoted to describing the two types of people encountered in life—those who are working toward helping man (the social personality) and those who are seeking to destroy him (the antisocial personality, or suppressive). The characteristics of both types of people and how to recognize each are listed in this chapter.

The chapter “Why Ethics?” explains the extent to which ethics are applied and why ethics and justice are not continued past the point where the person has become ethical. The last chapter of the book entitled “Responsibilities of Leaders” lays out how to apply the formula for the condition of Power to groups, once one arrives in such a state. The story of Simon Bolivar and Manuela Saenz illustrates the penalties paid by those who do not know and apply the formula for Power.

“The breakthrough in Scientology is that we do have the basic technology of ethics. For the first time man can learn how to put his own ethics in and climb back up the chute.
